Midtown: Gaming, Good Food & Family Fun

Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism

Hot Springs has something for everyone, and the Midtown district — nestled between downtown and the lake district — is where you’ll find the heart of the action. Whether you’re in the mood for shopping, dining or entertainment, Midtown offers a vibrant blend of modern conveniences and local charm.

The area is home to well-known big-box retailers and the Hot Springs Mall. For those who prefer a more unique experience, however, Midtown’s charm lies in its locally owned shops and restaurants. For barbecue lovers, Midtown is a must-visit. Stubby’s Bar-B-Que™, a Hot Springs favorite since 1952, offers its take on the classic Southern fare (along with its world-renowned sauce!).

If you’re craving Tex-Mex, La Hacienda is a spot that both locals and tourists love.

Family-friendly favorites like The Purple Cow add to the eclectic mix of eateries, ensuring there’s something to please every palate.

There’s no shortage of things to do in Midtown. Family Fun Spot delivers on its name, offering indoor zip-lining, go-karts and bumper cars for all ages. It’s the perfect place to let loose and enjoy some lighthearted fun.

However, the real crown jewel of Midtown is Oaklawn Hot Springs. This thoroughbred racetrack and casino attracts more than 1 million visitors annually. Fans of horse racing gather year after year to witness thrilling races. The excitement doesn’t stop there. Oaklawn underwent a $100 million expansion, enhancing both the casino and delivering a world-class resort hotel, pool and spa. Some rooms even have views of the racetrack. While the racetrack only operates from December to May, the casino is open year-round (except Christmas and Easter) with off-track betting, poker, blackjack and thousands of slot machines for those in the mood to try their luck.

Midtown offers plenty of places to unwind and treat yourself. For a moment of pampering, Destinations Day Spa is the ultimate escape. With luxurious body treatments, massages, and facials, it’s the perfect place to recharge after a fun-filled day.
